– SBDM Regular Meeting

4th, 2012
Meeting
called to order at 4:08 PM with Tom Castle, Chad Williams, Tonya Castle, Mark
Clevenger and Anita Cantrell present.
Anita
Cantrell made the motion, Chad Williams seconded, to approve the agenda.
Tonya
Castle made the motion, Anita Cantrell seconded, to approve the minutes of the
October 18th meeting with the
following amendment- policy updates for 1st reading approval
should include: Extracurricular Programs, Program Appraisal, and School Day and
Week Schedule.
Chad
Williams made the motion, Tonya Castle seconded, to approve the budgets.
Anita
Cantrell made a motion, Tonya Castle seconded, to approve for a 2nd
reading the Alignment with State Standards, Curriculum, Discipline, Extracurricular
Programs, Program Appraisal, and School Day and Week Schedule Policies.
Council
reviewed the 1st of 3 checks of the Program Reviews. Program Reviews are done in Arts &
Humanities, Practical Living/Vocational Studies, and Writing. Based on these reports, the council agreed
for the need of an Art position. Mr.
Castle mentioned that he had written Mr. Armstrong a request for an additional
position to be used for art instruction but had not received a response at this
time.
Council reviewed the 2nd Quarterly
Report. The areas of math are still a
major concern. Mr. Castle mentioned that
since their last meeting, students had been placed in an ALEKS intervention
program to help address this. He also,
mentioned that AmeriCorp has began its tutoring program on the area of Reading,
utilizing the program Marie Carbo Pro.
New
Business
Mr. Castle mentioned to the council
that LMS walkthroughs were Dec. 10th.
Mr. Castle discussed
trends from his bi-weekly walkthroughs.
The LMS Christmas Bazaar is scheduled
for Dec. 7th.
The LMS Band and Choir will perform
their Christmas program for the student body on Dec. 19th.
January’s SBDM meeting will occur on
Jan 8th due to New Year’s Day.
